Description:This is a new community I'm setting up for game modders of all types. The idea of modding is simple: end users of a game create new material to use ingame, sometimes turning a game into something the developers never thought of. A good example is Counter-Strike. It went from being a little mod to being "the most popular game on the internet." (I was still on an old Performa at that time, so I don't really play CS.) Anyway, I started my community after I saw modders with similar ideas struggling over at a scifi board I know. I was one of them. I thought, "We're all working on the same game, so we all know the basics. If we lent each other a hand (models, textures etc) and shared our knowledge, we could reinvigorate the community." Alas, the idea never took off at that board, so I decided to start my own. The Alliance Modding Group was born! Now, I've decided all game modders are welcome, just to chat or do some serious modding. If mod teams work together ("Can I borrow that model of [Insert object/person]?" or "How to I....") we become a federation of sorts. The idea had three original members, but nothing much progressed, so I'm working on promoting my site, getting new users in and such...
Category (topic): Computer Gaming (Modding)
Start date: November 2004
Statistics (threads, posts, members, hits) Not enought to be worth mentioning, yet.
vBulletin version: 3.5 B4
Styles (default, 1 or more): Blue Glass Fixed (has an error where the cursor in the WYSIWYG editor appears halfway down the box, doesn't alter post output but it's annoying so I disabled it)
SilentGhost - No issues, am working on customization
Board won awards? No, too new!
Is registration required to view board? No (to post, yes. Activation? Yes. Guest forum? Here. (http://www.alliancemodding.com/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=28))
Tell us more: The forum is actually run under a Constitution (The Forum Constitution (http://www.alliancemodding.com/vb/announcement.php?f=22)) rather than a "what admins say goes." I was a member at boards like this (no names) and I hated it, so I set up what I think is a reasonable constitution.
Why is your forum the best?: Can't really say because I've had no comments, the site is new.
Styles Installed: Power Blue (doesn't work yet, images are red Xs, resolving at vB.org)
SilentGhost
Blue Glass Fixed
Grey

It does look like you worked hard at it, and I hate to be the one to tell you this, but your design is all jacked up on Safari, Mac OSX's default browser.

The colors are wacked cause I just did a cheap screenshot of it. I figured it's better you know so you can try and fix it. There is a service that lets you see what your website looks like on a mac. I wish I knew the service name...but you can find it. I did when I needed it. It's cool, cause you enter an address, and a slave mac will visit it and take a screencap of the site.

I need to find something like that for winblows now. :*(

Ya I know that FireFox hates my site, looks the same on a Mac...I've contacted the style author cause that's not my style. Waiting for him to get back to me.
