How to stop certain moderators physically deleting posts]Go to ADMIN CP >>> Forums & Moderators >>> Show All Moderators >>>>Next to the moderator/admin click ( [Edit Permissions] )

Now its the 3rd option:

Can Physically Delete Posts (Completely removes the post from the database) - Set to No


(NOTE: This works for Moderators, Super Moderators, Admins)
